Pacaya Samiria National Reserve 4 Days / 3 Nights: 480 USD per person

Explore Peru's natural splendor with a journey through the expansive Pacaya Samiria Natural Reserve, a haven for biodiversity and one of the country's largest protected areas. This immersive tour offers a deep connection to the Amazon rainforest's pristine environment, featuring dense jungles, winding rivers, and an astonishing variety of wildlife. Navigate the reserve's water channels on boat excursions amidst lush greenery, where encounters with caimans, pink dolphins, monkeys, and diverse bird species await.

Day 1: Begin Your Adventure

Upon arrival at the airport or bus station, you will be greeted and transferred to the offices of Monte Amazonico Lodge for a comprehensive briefing before embarking on your journey. For convenience, we recommend repacking large luggage to carry only essentials.

Enjoy a scenic 2-hour 4x4 transfer to the banks of the Tambopata River (river travel extends beyond 6 hours). From there, a boat will transport you to Monte Amazonico - Tambopata Lodge, where you will receive a warm welcome and a meal depending on arrival time.

In the afternoon, embark on an introductory rainforest walk, offering glimpses of diverse wildlife including amphibians, mammals, reptiles, and exotic insects in their natural habitats.

Day 2: Dawn Expedition to El Chuncho

We start early at 4:30 am for a thrilling boat ride to "El Chuncho," the world's largest macaw clay lick, about 1.5 hours away. Along the way, you might spot capybaras, tapirs, and possibly jaguars, often photographed by our guests.

Upon reaching the clay lick, witness an impressive gathering of parrots and macaws feeding on clay, crucial for their diet and health. Experience the vibrant display of reds, greens, blues, and yellows filling the sky—a truly unforgettable sight. Return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation.

Later, explore our botanical garden with our guide to see local fruit, timber, and medicinal plants. Enjoy lunch before a tranquil afternoon kayaking on the Tambopata River, offering quiet observation of the reserve's wildlife. End the day with optional night exploration in the jungle.

Day 3: Pacaya Samiria Reserve - Yanaquillo Creek

Early breakfast and depart downstream towards Iquitos city. Observe a variety of birds like cotingas, macaws, parrots, and the majestic Harpy Eagle. Venture into Yanaquillo Creek to spot squirrel monkeys, saddleback tamarins, and sloths.

Marvel at towering Lupuna, Capirona, and Capinurí trees. Spot colorful birds like toucans, Red Macaws, Blue-and-Yellow Macaws, Great Egrets, and Amazon Kingfishers. After lunch and dinner, enjoy a nighttime boat excursion to search for nocturnal animals.

Day 4: Yanaquillo Creek - Nauta Port - Iquitos City

After breakfast, our boat takes us back to Nauta Port, and from there we return to Iquitos city.
